Ch. 10 (KENV) in Elko previewed the court technology that will be used to link four courtrooms across Nevada to create the Law Day Live webcast scheduled for April 29, 2010. Law Day Live will connect students with professionals in a first-ever high tech event. The story appeared on April 23, 2010. Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa and Nevada Supreme Court Justice Nancy Saitta took examinied how technology is improving access to justice for Nevada's courts in the first part of a series of stories looking at Technology and the Courts. The story appeared April 26, 2010 on Ch. 3 (KVBC) in Las Vegas and Ch. 4 (KRNV) in Reno. The Winnemucca Silver Pinyon Journal published a preview of Law Day Live titled, "Law Day to address technology crimes: cyberbullying, sexting," on April 26, 2010. Eighth Judicial District Court Juvenile Judge Bill Voy was interviewed on the Heidi Harris Show about cyberbullying and sexting on April 27, 2010 in Las Vegas (KDWN). The impact of cyberbullying on Nevada's school children, its schools and courts was the topic of the second part in series of stories reviewing how technology is impacting our communities and courts . The story appeared April 27, 2010 on Ch. 3 (KVBC) in Las Vegas and Ch. 4 (KRNV) in Reno. The Las Vegas Tribune offered a preview of Law Day Live in a story that appeared April 27, 2010. Clark County School District Social Studies Project Coordinator Karlye Mull appeared on Ch. 5 (KVVU) on April 28, 2010 to discuss cyberbullying and inappropriate texting. The School District is a partner in Law Day Live and a number of school administrators will appear on panels to discuss the impact of technology on schools. The growing trend of teens sharing inappropriate pictures with their friends, usually known as sexting, was revealed in the third part of a series of stories looking at the impact of technology on the courts and society. The story appeared April 28, 2010 on Ch. 3 (KVBC) in Las Vegas and Ch. 4 (KRNV) in Reno. The story featured Law Day Live panelist Mary Brown, the chief deputy prosecutor in the juvenile division of the Clark County District Attorney's Office. An Associated Press story titled, "Four Nevada Courts to Link for Interactive Broadcast," appeared in statewide newspapers, including the Las Vegas Sun. The story appeared on April 29, 2010 in various media, including The Las Vegas Sun, KOLO, KRNV, KTVN and KLAS. KLAS, Ch. 8 in Las Vegas, reported April 29, 2010 that one in five children has been the victim of cyberbullying. The story looked at cyberbullying and followed the discussion that took place with students during Law Day Live. KVBC, Ch. 3 in Las Vegas, provided coverage of the Law Day Live forum with a story titled "Students, parents gather at RJC to discuss sexting, cyber-bullying," which appeared April 29, 2010. KRNV, Ch 4. in Reno, reported April 29, 2010 reported "Students learn perils of high technology" in its coverage of Law Day Live. KENV, Ch. 10 in Elko, reported on April 29, 2010 that "students from Elko and Spring Creek attended a state wide forum in Judge Puccinelli's courtroom. Topics included "sexting" and cyber bullying," in reporting of Law Day Live. A story titled, "New technologies create new legal issues: Cyberbullying, sexting major topics of Law Day Live forum," appeared in the Las Vegas Sun April 30, 2010. The Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote, "we will find you if you walk on the dark side of technology," in its April 30, 2010 story about Law Day Live titled, "Warning sent to cyberbullies, sexting students." |
